Listen With Respect

I think the assassination of Charlie Kirk was evil.

To be honest with you, I did not know who he was until this happened. Possibly because his focus was on college students, and the news stations I watch or read do not talk about him.  But not now, he is all over the news.

A million people are peacefully marching in England. Thousands are commenting on the internet. I read that many people are searching for God and going back to church. Some believe Charlie’s death may lead to a revival in our country.

Some people are proclaiming the same thing I believe, “We have freedom of speech and should not have to live in fear of being killed to express it.”

For a long time, I have been saying, “Why can’t we agree to disagree?”

What concerns me is this deep hatred and it is disgusting to see people celebrating Charlie’s death. No matter what side one is on, no one should be celebrating a murder.

God tells us do not murder. Jesus took it a step further.

“Anyone who hates their brother has committed murder.”

What do we do about all this hate?

Try love. Listening with Respect is a form of love.

This doesn’t mean agreeing. See each person as a human being, a child of God.

There are these billboards around San Diego of Dolly Parton, quoting, “See the good in everybody.”

I will add, “Including those on the opposite side of the political fence from you.”

I pray for Charlie’s two adorable children who grow up without him.
