Patience in the Waiting

Patience is a fruit of the Spirit. This is a hard one for many of us. Several years ago, I took a cruise through the Solomon Islands. I had the opportunity to practice patience, and then I wrote this reflection.
Patience in the Waiting
On this cruise ship, they let you know the next day’s plans the night before.
I had to let go of “Where are we going?” “What time?” What is happening?”
I felt I could trust the captain to find the right places to take us to.
They need to check out the conditions of the current, weather, and whatever.
The island of Pulap was suddenly closed, and we had to wait and see where to go.
The next morning, the captain found another island to stop at.
So lovely, and even better according to our guide.
I could trust him.
The spiritual lesson? Sometimes, God asks me to wait.
“Where are we going? What am I doing? Why don’t you tell me, God…yesterday? Right now!”
God says, “I will tell you when I am ready. You see, I have your back and will bring this about, but you need to trust me. And wait. Patiently.”
Sometimes there is a closing or ending.
Sadness and disappointment.
It means God has something else for me.
Wait and hope.
Slowly, women are signing up for Not Alone Group. Even a few are interested in a Not Alone training.
I trust God has my back.
He will tell me.
Now I wait.
What is God asking you to wait for?
