Lake Hallstatt, Austria

Leaving the deep heaviness of Krakow, we entered God’s stunning creation, Lake Hallstatt.

Nestled in the Austrian Alps is the small village of 700 people. Our hotel, The Heritage, was simple and quaint and I recommend it

We enjoyed the short walk through the town, filled with shops, restaurants, and churches.  Busloads of tourists arrive daily at this beautiful spot and are welcomed by the locals, who rely on tourism.

It rained for two days and was sunny for the other two. The fog arrives, giving an appearance of snow on the mountains. Prior to my trip, I didn’t research the rainfall, but fortunately, Ron did. Right before I left, I grabbed my umbrella and rain jacket. Initially, I was bummed about walking in the rain but decided to change my attitude. Every day I walked 5-6 miles to the next village. On one of the rainy days, I got my jacket and umbrella and went for it.  I was so grateful to be there in the magnificent beauty and chose not to complain. Then I could relish and savor in God’s beautiful creation.  How does God speak to you through creation?

As I walked in the rain, I asked God how he felt about what happened at Auschwitz. “The rain are my tears.”
