God Delights in You

We have heard it said so many times; “God loves you.”

But does God like me?

Are you one of the many people who have told me, “I know God loves me in my head, but I don’t truly believe it in my heart.”  Or perhaps you know in your heart God loves you, but for some reason you still doubt it.

Maybe your prayers go unanswered.  You wonder, does God hear me?

Perhaps you have been hurt by life. Or things didn’t turn out the way you hoped. And you wonder where was God in all this?  I hear you.

Maybe you feel loved, until the wind blows up and knocks you down. Sometimes that wind is known as failure or rejection. I know that too well.

Maybe you are feeling dry spiritually?  Blah?  Your prayer life isn’t working for you anymore and want something new. I have been there.

Are you one of those who are burnt out on religion?  But still desire God?

I have been a Christ follower all my life. But I didn’t truly know in my heart how valued and loved I was by God until I had a pivotal experience that opened a deep childhood wound. I was so devastated and felt so unworthy. Through therapy and time with God, I know now deep within God loves me, even likes me, and delights in me. Really!

And He delights in you, too.

I have been a spiritual director for ten years, facilitated bible studies for thirty years, mentored women, and led workshops and trauma groups for women. People tell me they know God loves them in their heads but don’t really believe it in their hearts. They ask me, “How did you get there?”

Not that I have “arrived” but I do live in more security, confidence, peace, and joy than I did before.

My passion is to share this “how to get there” with others.

I have been leading a group called “God Delights in You,” which contains reflections, scripture, spiritual practices, and prayers that draw one into the heart of God.  There are 10 in the group: such lovely people who are spiritual directors, nuns, ministry leaders, and a therapist. Not only do they desire to be more grounded as the Beloved child of God, but they also long to share this with those they come alongside. There is a need out there.

For September, I will blog some highlights about the course. God loves you more than you know!

The Lord your God is with you,

 the Mighty Warrior who saves.

He will take great delight in you;

in his love he will no longer rebuke you,

but will rejoice over you with singing.”
