The Peace of Nature

I feel so much peace and joy in nature.
I am fortunate to live near the ocean. Watching the sunset, pleasure slowly fills my soul. Feelings of awe come over me as I gaze at the colorful sky. It’s as if God takes a paintbrush, saying, “I am here” as he creates a masterpiece.
I have taken up ocean swimming during the summer. While my shorty wetsuit keeps my core warm, the brisk water refreshes me. I come alive in the water. My body is rejuvenated, which lasts all day long. Spending time with God, rejuvenates my soul. And that gives me peace all day long.
The ocean reminds me of God’s extravagant and deep love for me. The horizon and beyond reveal to me the infinite nature of God and the enduring quality of His love. Even though I do not see beyond the horizon, I know he is with me. As the sun slowly sets, I reflect on what I can let go of today. When troubles are released, a calm peace remains.
As you look at my photo, a cross appears to be reflected in the ocean. The sun (son) of pure love ignites a smile on my face.
Reflection: How do you experience God in nature? What does nature tell you about God?
Practice: Get out in nature. If that is not possible, then gaze at my photo or use one of your photos. You can also find nature videos on YouTube with soft, soothing music. Put what is disturbing your peace in an imaginary box. As you gaze at the photo or get out in nature, let the peace fill your heart.
If you enjoy art, try drawing/painting a peaceful picture of nature.
